Version Discrepancy Notice

It would be usefull to have a notice for either the client or server that either one is on a different version that may be incompatable. I understand this might be annoying when doing development so I suppose having some way to disable it or mute it for a while would be good as well.

I believe both the client and server already check versions.
you can provide a different version in the configuration of the server to force this test by manually overwriting it.

This is correct.

We have a number of checks:

1) Dalamud plugin requires a certain server version (breaking change)
2) Server requires a certain dalamud plugin version (non-breaking change) -> "There is an update, please update your plugin"
3) Server requires a certain dalamud plugin version (breaking change) -> "You cannot connect unless you update your plugin".

What you experienced yesterday was a breaking change on the dev branch that is not yet released to the main branch. Hence always connect to main :D.

Ahhhh well then consider my post just pointless since that does explain why I think I did not get any warnings and if I did I was just being ignorant and ignored it all. Thank you for clarifying this will make sure to pay better attention next time to anything.
